During WWI, he was a 2nd Corporal with the 107th Battalion Pioneer Canadian Engineers when he served in England, France, Belgium and Germany for 3 years. He was awarded the Military Medal for Bravery at Passchendale on November 12, 1917 when he was given the task of constructing a formation for a plank road, was subjected to intense bombardment but showed utter disregard for his personal safety, greatly encouraging his comrades and finally completing his task. He was discharged on May 7, 1919. During WWII, Gordon joined the Veterans Guard of Canada on October 7, 1942. He served for 3 years in Prisoner of War Camps at Moose Jaw, SK; Lethbridge, Edmonton, Medicine Hat, AB; and Westminster and Trail, BC. On September 4, 1945, he was discharged. A member of Killarney Legion Branch 25, Gordon passed away on February 24, 1971 at 75 years of age and is buried at Holmfield, MB. STOUFFER, Leslie R. WWI Leslie was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on March 18, 1890 and lived most of his life in Holmfield. During WWI, he joined the Canadian Expeditionary Force on December 27, 1914 at the age of 24. He was assigned to the 222nd Battalion and served in England and France for 4 years. He also served with the 1st Canadian Mounted Rifles, the 3rd Entrenching Battalion, and the 3rd Army Troops Canadian Engineers. Leslie was in hospital from November 3 to December 24, 1917 for Shell Gas poisoning treatment and he was discharged from the Army on April 27, 1919 on demobilization. A member of Killarney Legion Branch 25, Leslie passed away on November 16, 1966 and is buried in Holmfield, Manitoba. STOWE, Francis D. H. WWII Francis was born in Holmfield, Manitoba in 1924. He joined the Army and served in England with the Canadian Aviation Corps during World War II. Francis died in 2002. STOWE, Arnold G. WWII Arnold was born in Manitoba in 1922. He joined the Army and served in Unit #3, Provost Company in Italy, France and Holland during World War II. Arnold died in 1972.
