WWI James was born in La Rivière, Manitoba in 1898 and enlisted in 1915 in Winnipeg, Manitoba with the 79th Cameron Highlanders of Canada. He served as a Private in Canada, England and France with the 43rd Battalion, Canadian Infantry. James was killed in action on August 8, 1918 in France and is buried at the Vimy Memorial Cemetery. BRAGG, Carl Dominic WWII Carl was born in Killiker, Minnesota in 1922 and moved to Canada in 1923, settling in Finland, Ontario. He worked for his father at Bragg’s Sawmill in his earlier years then he enlisted with the Canadian Army and served overseas with the Winnipeg Grenadiers, Royal Canadian Army Service Corps in the North Pacific, including Japan and the Aleutian Islands. After the war, Carl moved to Brandon then Shilo, Manitoba for the duration of his enlistment. He met Alverna Armstrong there and on April 17, 1947, they married and later moved to Fort Frances, Ontario where he worked for the Department of Highways for a few years. He then became a contractor in the logging and gravel industries. Carl was a member of General Lipsett Legion Branch 99 for more than 50 years and passed away in 2005. BRASSINE, Harry WWI Harry was born in England. He joined the Army and served in France with the 45th Battalion and the 5th West Cavalry Battalion, No. 3 Company, in Ypres and at the Somme. Harry was killed in action at Vimy Ridge in 1917. BRAMWELL, Robert Neelin “Bob” WWII Bob was born on December 19, 1921 to Charles and Ruby (Neelin) on the family farm in Neelin, Manitoba. He farmed with his father until 1942 when he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and was stationed in Brandon and Winnipeg, Manitoba and St. Thomas, Ontario. After serving as a Leading Aircraftman, he returned home in 1945 and worked as a mechanic in a Cartwright garage, eventually buying a ½ section of land and farming with his father. He married Marlyne Armstrong in 1955, raised four children, after which they retired in 1984. Bob had a stroke in 1985 and entered personal care in 1994 after suffering more strokes. Bob, who has a Past President pin, was a member of Cartwright-Mather Legion Branch 86 from 1947 until he passed away in May 1995.
