195 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca SCOTT, Roy M. WWII Roy was born in Boissevain, Manitoba in 1925. He joined the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion and served in Canada during World War II. Roy is a member of Centennial Legion Branch 285 in Calgary. SCRAMSTAD, Ingwald R. WWII Ingwald was born in Starbuck, Manitoba in 1915. He enlisted with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles during World War II and served in Continental Europe, including Belgium, France and The Netherlands. He was awarded the 1939-45 Star, the France and Germany Star, the Canadian Voluntary Service Medal. Ingwald was a member of Selkirk Legion Branch 42 and he died in 1999. SEALEY, Arnold W. WWII Arnold was born on August 8, 1922 in Pine Creek, MB. He joined the Army on January 12, 1943 and trained at Portage la Prairie, MB and Camp Ipperwash, ON. He arrived in England on July 28, 1943 and was stationed at Aldershot before being shipped to Naples, Italy in February 1944, and stationed at Avalena with the Royal Canadian Regiment. He was then assigned to D Company, 1st Battalion, 1st Brigade, 1st Division, 1st Canadian Corps of the British 8thArmy, and sent to break through the “Hitler Line” in the Lire Valley at Cassino, then to just outside Rome. He returned to England, then Canada, followed by his English bride, Lenore (Nora) Watkins. They worked and raised their family in Winnipeg. Discharged on May 1, 1946, Arnold received the 1939-45 Star, the Italy Star, and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp. He was a member of Fort Garry Legion 90 until his death in 1999. SCUTT, Charles Fredrick WWII Charles was born in Makinak, Manitoba in 1923. He joined the Army and trained at Fort Garry and Shilo, Manitoba. He served with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles in England, France, Holland, and Germany during World War II. Charles has been a member of Lawrence Legion Branch 87 for sixty-three years.
