He joined the Royal Canadian Army and served with the 222nd Battalion and the 4th Canadian Machine Gun Battalion at Vimy Ridge and Mons during World War I. BERTHOLET, Jules WWII Jules was born in Grande Clairière, Manitoba in 1924. He joined the Canadian Army at the 10 District Depot in Winnipeg and served as a Private in England and Holland. Jules passed away in 2003. No additional information is available. BOORMAN, Frederick A. WWII Frederick was born in Souris, Manitoba on August 25, 1919 and enlisted with the Canadian Army on October 9, 1941, completing his basic training in Red Deer and Calgary, Alberta. He traveled to the UK on July 30, 1942 and served as a Private in Sicily, Italy, Germany, Belgium and Holland. He served for four years in the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps and received the 1939-45 Star, the France and Germany Star, the Italy Star, the Defence Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Bar and the War Medal 1939-45. Fred passed away on April 30, 1980 and had been a member of Souris Legion Branch 60 for eighteen years. BONNER, Joseph W. “Joe” WWII Joe was born in Miniota, Manitoba in 1916. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in Winnipeg on May 14, 1941 and served with 423 Squadron in England, Ireland, Libya, Egypt and Malta. He was honourably discharged on November 27, 1945 with the rank of Flying Officer. Joe was awarded the 1939-45 Star, the Atlantic Star, the Africa Star with the North Africa 1942-43 Clasp, the Defence Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp, the War Medal 193945, and was Mentioned in Dispatches. He was a member of Miniota Legion Branch 66 for sixty years and he died in 1988.
