He joined the Army and served in Canada with the Royal Canadian Artillery during World War II. John was a member of Manitou Legion Branch 21 for forty-seven years. POTT, Horace Edmond WWII Horace was born in Woodmore, Manitoba on March 20, 1919. He enlisted with the Fort Garry Horse in Winnipeg in 1941 and trained at Camp Borden, Ontario. In September 1942, he became a cook for the Army and was transferred to many units over the next years. His service included duties in Canada, Britain, Italy and the Central Mediterranean. Honourably discharged in November 1945, he was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, the Italy Star, the Defence Medal, and the 1939-45 Star. He was a member of Emerson Legion Branch 77. Horace passed away in 1978. POWELL, Albert C. WWII Albert was born in Boissevain, Manitoba in 1913. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served in Canada in Brandon and Paulson, Manitoba, and St. Thomas, Ontario. Albert was a member of Boissevain Legion Branch 10 for more than 20 years before he died in 1997. POW, Jack W. WWII Jack was born in Buckhaven, Scotland in 1912. He joined the Royal Canadian Army and served with the 71st Battery and the 8th Army Field Regiment in the United Kingdom, Northwest Europe, and the Central Mediterranean area during World War II. He was a member of Brandon Legion Branch 3 before he passed away in 2004.
