He joined the Army and served with the 5th Canadian Armoured Division of the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps in Canada, England, Italy, and Europe. He has been a member of Miniota Legion Branch 66 for forty-three years. OPPERMAN, Douglas N. WWII Douglas was born in Boissevain, Manitoba in 1921. He joined the Army and served in Italy as a driver for the Artillery during World War II. Douglas was a member of Boissevain Legion Branch 10 for thirty-six years before he died in 1987. OPPERMAN, Lawrence Lorne S. WWI Lawrence was born to Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Opperman in Boissevain, Manitoba in 1897. He joined the Army and served as a Private in the 16th Battalion of the Canadian Infantry (Manitoba Regiment). He was twenty when he was killed in action on October 8, 1916 at the Battle of Courcelette in France. Lawrence is buried in the Adanac Military Cemetery in Miraumont, Somme, France. OPPERMAN, George R. WWII George was born in Boissevain, Manitoba in 1924. He joined the Army and served in the 2nd Division, 2nd Battalion of the Royal Regiment of Canada in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He was wounded in action. He spent one year in Germany on Occupation and was discharged as a Corporal in 1946. George has been a member of Boissevain Legion Branch 10 for fifty-eight years.
