He enlisted at Osborne Barracks in Winnipeg in 1939 and served with the Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders and the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry in Canada, England, and France where he was wounded in Dieppe. Bill died on August 19, 1942 after becoming a POW. He is buried in France. A Winnipeg area lake was named after him in memory. O’CALLAGHAN, Allan J. WWII Allan was born in Arrow River, Manitoba in 1911. He joined the Army and served in Canada during World War II. Allan died in 1995. O’CALLAGHAN, Stewart M. WWII Stewart was born in Arrow River, Manitoba in 1909. He joined the Army and served with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps during World War II. Stewart died in 1995. O’CALLAGHAN, Harvey C. WWII Harvey was born in Arrow River, Manitoba in 1919. He joined the Army and served as a Gunner with the Royal Canadian Artillery in England and Italy. He was a member of Kingsway Legion Branch 175. Harvey died in 2001.
