141 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca MORROW, Wallace F. “Wally” WWII Wally was born to Fred and Frances Morrow in 1922 on the family farm in Ingleside, south of Oakville, Manitoba. His sisters, Jean and Joyce, also served in WWII. He enlisted in Winnipeg in 1941 and served as a rifleman, mortar man and truck driver with the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry in England, France, Germany and Italy. He also served with the Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders, the 2nd Canadian Infantry Rifle Unit and the Saskatchewan Light Infantry Unit. He received the 1939-45 Star, the Italy Star, the France and Germany Star, the Defence Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp and the War Medal 1939-45. After the war, Wally farmed with his father and uncle, married Eleanor Hansley in 1949 and raised five children. He was a member of Oakville Legion Branch 224 for 20 years until he died in 1969. He was honoured in a special Remembrance Day ceremony in 2005 in Oakville, as were his sisters, Jean and Joyce. MOWAT, Sylvester T. WWII Sylvester was born in Woodside, Manitoba on March 8, 1913. He joined the Department of National Defence in 1942 and served as a Gunner in Canada. He was discharged in 1945 and farmed for many years before retiring to Gladstone where he enjoyed good health until he died in February 2010. Sylvester had been a member of the Gladstone Legion Branch 110 for fifty-three years. MURDOCH, William I. WWII William was born in Deloraine, Manitoba in 1922. He joined the Army and served with 10DD Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps (CBH) in Italy, France and Germany. William was a member of Deloraine Legion Branch 83 until he died in 1962. MUNDAY, Charles William WWII Charles was born in London, England in 1917. He immigrated to Canada and settled in Kamsack, Saskatchewan in 1921. He attended school there as well as in Dauphin, Manitoba in the 1930s. Charles joined the Royal Canadian Air Force Militia and in 1941, joined the Radar Mechanics Division of the Royal Canadian Air Force, serving as a Sergeant in England during World War II. Charles and his wife raised one son and two daughters. He resides in Dauphin and is a member of Dauphin Legion Branch 20.
