129 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca McLEOD, Allister C. WWII Allister was born in Balmoral, Manitoba in 1922. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served in England with 426 Squadron during World War II. He was killed in Holland in 1944. McLEOD, Graham J. PEACETIME Graham was born in Mather, Manitoba in 1929. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served in Canada and France from 1955 to 1978. During his 23-year service in the military, he was awarded the Canadian Forces Decoration with Clasp, the Centennial Medal, the Silver Jubilee Medal, and the NATO Medal. Graham was a member of St. James Legion Branch 4 for ten years and he passed away in Winnipeg in 1985. McLEOD, W. Ivor G. WWII Ivor was born in 1924 in Mather, Manitoba. In June 1942, he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) in Winnipeg. After a year of training at various schools all across Canada, he was posted to 24 Maintenance Unit as an airframe technician at RAF Ternhill, Market Drayton, Shropshire where Lancaster Bombers would come in with battle damage and were totally rebuilt. After returning home in September 1945, he worked as an auto mechanic, married, raised a family, and retired as service manager. Ivor served 33 years with The Royal Canadian Legion (Burntwood River, Crystal City and Cartwright-Mather) in posts up to Branch President and received a Life Membership. Ivor passed away in 1996. His brother, Grant, served in the Navy and his cousin, Royden, was killed in action serving with the RCAF in the Pacific Theatre. McLEOD, Norman S. WWII Norman was born in Balmoral, Manitoba in 1920. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served in England with 426 Squadron during World War II. He was killed in 1943 during a raid on Dusseldorf, Germany.
