109 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca LOWER, William E. “Will” WWI Will was born in 1877 in Brighton, England, the oldest boy in a family of eight. He came to Canada with his parents and five siblings in 1889 and came straight to Winnipeg where they lived for a few years. His father then homesteaded a farm west of Woodlands, Manitoba and Will hired out as a farmhand, but by 1911, they were back in Winnipeg and he was working for the City as a pipe layer. In 1916, he enlisted, having previously served with the 90th Royal Winnipeg Rifles Regiment. In 1920, he was back with the City of Winnipeg Waterworks and remained there until his retirement in 1943. He died in 1950 at the age of seventythree. LUKER, Allan Robert WWII Allan was born in Rapid City, Manitoba in 1920. He enlisted in the Army in August 1940, arriving overseas in 1941. He served as a Gunner in Canada, Italy and Northwest Europe. He passed away on January 29, 1975 and was buried in Rapid City where he spent his lifetime, except for the time he spent in the Army during the Second World War. He was a member of Rapid City Legion Branch 49. LUKER, Edward Cooper “Ed” WWII Ed was born in Rapid City, Manitoba in 1912. He enlisted in the Army in March 1941 and served as a Private in the Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps with the mobile bath and laundry unit in Canada, England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. Ed was a member of Brandon Legion Branch 3 and he passed away in Minnedosa on November 24, 1988. LUKER, David Lloyd “Dave” WWII Dave was born in Rapid City, Manitoba in 1914. He enlisted in the Army in March 1941 and served as a Lance Bombardier in Canada, arriving overseas in October 1941. Dave was a member of Rapid City Legion Branch 49 before he passed away on July 16, 1975.
