9 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca ADAMS, Lloyd Melvin KOREA Lloyd was born in Selkirk, Manitoba in 1931 to Ernest and Gertrude Adams. He enlisted in the Army in Winnipeg and joined the 4th Canadian Guards. He served in Korea from 1953 and then returned to Canada, transferring to Lord Strathcona’s Horse in Calgary, Alberta. Lloyd received the Canadian Korea Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal for Korea and the United Nations Service Medal for Korea. He was a Member of Selkirk Legion Branch 42. Lloyd died in 1996 and is buried in the Veterans Field of Honour in Calgary, Alberta. ADAMS, Percival WWI Percival was born in Selkirk, Manitoba in 1897 to Joseph and Harriet Adams. He enlisted with the Royal Engineers, Canadian Expeditionary Force and served in Europe. Percival died in 1937 from complications resulting of his being gassed during World War I. He was a Member of Selkirk Legion Branch 42. ALLAN, Gordon J. WWII Gordon was born in Emo, Ontario on January 10, 1914. He enlisted in the Army on September 2, 1943 at the age of 29, trained at Fort Osborne, Fort Garry, and was later posted to Shilo, Manitoba. Due to medical reasons, he could not go overseas so he worked in Brandon, Manitoba at the hospital for returned service personnel until the end of the war. He was discharged on July 2, 1946 as a Corporal with the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps and was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. Gordon returned to the Rainy River District with his family and worked in logging, farming, and guiding. He also drove taxis and was an equipment operator for many years in Emo where he lived and raised three girls with his wife, Mildred. Gordon had been a member of General Lipsett Legion Branch 99 for over 40 years when he passed away on May 23, 1991. AIKENHEAD, Campbell D. WWI Campbell was born in 1891. He joined the Army and served with the Canadian Army Medical Corps, No. 2 Canadian Chaplains Service, No. 1 Canadian General Hospital. Campbell served in France and Bonn, Germany. He died in 1973.
