While serving with the # 434 Halifax Squadron, he was a navigational instructor both in the air and at the ground instruction school. He was killed in action on October 3, 1943 in Germany and is commemorated at the Hanover War Cemetery in Germany. Harold received the Air Force Medal Citation in 1943 for his exemplary, whole-hearted and meritorious manner. GERYLO, Peter WWII Peter was born in Selkirk, Manitoba in 1914 and joined the Royal Canadian Artillery, serving in Canada. He’s been a member of the Selkirk Branch #42 of The Royal Canadian Legion for twenty-nine years. No additional information is available. GILROY, Seymour WWI Seymour was born in Brantford, Ontario in 1891 and moved at a very young age with his family to Minitonas, Manitoba. He joined the Royal Canadian Army and served in Europe. In 1917, he was killed in action in Belgium. He was twenty-six. His grave is situated at Passchendaele, Plot 13, Row “F”, Grave 21, six miles eastnorth-east of Ypres, Belgium. Seymour never married. GIBSON, Charles WWI Charles was born in Arbroath, Scotland in 1899 and joined the Lord Strathcona Horse (Royal Canadians) as a bugler serving in Canada, England and France. He was severely wounded in December 1917. Not long after his discharge, he immigrated to Detroit and was a charter member of the Canadian Legion Post 84, Royal Oak, Michigan, USA. Charles passed away in 1976.
