89 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca GARNHAM, William Earl WWII William was born in Edwin, Manitoba in 1919 and enlisted in the 18th Manitoba Reconnaissance Battalion, 18h Manitoba Dragoons Squadron in Winnipeg on June 30, 1941. He trained as a driver mechanic at Winnipeg, Shilo and Borden, ON, was stationed on Vancouver Island, went to England in August 1942 and to Caen, France in June 1944. Injured at Falaise, he recovered in England and remained with his regiment till the end of the war. Discharged on March 2, 1946, he brought back an English bride. William received the 1939-45 Star, the France and Germany Star, the Defence Medal and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. William had been a member of RCL Portage la Prairie Branch #65 for many years when he passed away in 2004. GARRIOCH, Earl F. PEACETIME Earl was born in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba in 1928 and joined the Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps, serving in Canada. He passed away in 2004 and was a member of the Fort Garry Branch #90 and Branch #09 of The Royal Canadian Legion for forty-seven years. GEORGE, Marc W.J. SPECIAL AREA DUTY & PEACETIME Marc was born in Boissevain, Manitoba in 1964 and joined the Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery, serving in Canada, Germany (NATO), Alaska and Somalia. Marc served twenty-five years in the Army as an Artillery Officer and received two Chief of Defence Staff commendations for meritorious service. He retired and became Director of the RCA Museum, Canada’s National Artillery Museum at CFB Shilo in Brandon, Manitoba. GAVIN, Clarence A. WWII Clarence was born in Emo, Ontario in 1921 and joined the Royal Canadian Army as a gunner. He passed away in 2003 and had been a member of the Emo Branch #99 of The Royal Canadian Legion for over fifty years. No additional information is available.
