While at the University of Manitoba, he was involved with soccer and the hockey team and later graduated as a civil engineer in 1937. He then worked at the Sherridon Mines before enlisting in 1941 with the Royal Canadian Artillery. He rose to Lieutenant before going overseas in 1942. He was killed in action in Holland in 1945. FARMER, William J. WWII William was born in Lauder, Manitoba in 1922 and joined the Air Force in Winnipeg, MB in 1941. He trained on float boats and their engines in Ontario and in Victoria and Bella Bella, BC. He went overseas in March 1942 and served in England, France and Germany until the end of the war. He received 2 Gold Medals, 3 Silver Medals and 1 Silver-Confederations 1867-1992, along with various Legion Medals. William passed away in 2003 and had been a member of the Boissevain Branch #10 of The Royal Canadian Legion for thirty-five years, the Minto Branch #201 for eighteen years and the Napinka Branch #89 for four years. FISHER, James P. WWII James was born in Ninga, Manitoba in 1899 and joined the Forestry Division of the Army, serving in Canada and Scotland. James passed away in 1985 and had been a member of the Boissevain Branch #10 of The Royal Canadian Legion for forty years. FAYKES, William WWII William was born in Arbakka, Manitoba in 1911. He joined the Royal Canadian Engineers, 20th Field Co. Royal Canadian Engineers and spent time in Chilliwack, BC, Dundurn, SK, Winnipeg and Fort William as well as at the internment camp at Neys, Ontario. William was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #176 in Piney, Manitoba at the time of his death in 1985. Previously he had been a member of the Atikokan Branch #145 and the Sprague, Manitoba Branch. At that time, the Legion was known as the “British Empire Service League”.
