67 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca DOUGLAS, Elwood W. WWII Elwood was born in Bunclody, Manitoba in 1914. He joined the Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps and transferred to the Winnipeg Rifles, serving in Canada. Elwood passed away in 2003 and was a Life Member of the Hartney Branch #26 of The Royal Canadian Legion. DOUGALL, Joseph J. WWII Joseph was born in Boissevain, Manitoba in 1920. He joined the 1st Army Service Corps and served in Sicily, Italy, France, Holland, Germany, England, Belgium and Scotland. He was wounded in Italy and still has shrapnel in his hand. He hauled fuel for pumping out behind dikes in Holland after the war ended. Joseph has been a member of the Killarney Branch of The Royal Canadian Legion for sixty-four years. DREW, Reginald W.H. PEACETIME Reginald was born in Apple River, NS in 1935. He joined the RCAF in September 1952 as Air Craftsman 2nd Class and attended Radar and Electronics School at RCAF Station in Clinton, ON. Reg served on many flying and radar stations in NB, ON, QC, BC and Germany, was promoted to Chief Warrant Officer in 1975 and to Captain in 1981. Reg was awarded the Member of the Order of Military Merit, the Centennial Medal and the Queen’s Silver Jubilee Medal. In September 1987, he retired from the Canadian Forces, enlisted in the Army Reserve in 1988 and served as Commanding Officer of the local Army Cadet Corps until 1993. DOWLL, Frank WWII & KOREA Frank was born in Plum Coulee in 1925 and joined the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry, serving at Camp Borden, Calgary, Shilo, Rivers and Korea. He’s been a member of the Selkirk Branch #42 of The Royal Canadian Legion for forty-nine years.
