He enlisted in Brandon, MB on July 13, 1940, joined the # 3 Provost Corps and went overseas in August. In 1941, he transferred to the Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers and was on the front lines in Sicily, Italy, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He was discharged at Winnipeg, MB on August 17, 1945. His medals include the 1939-45 Star, the Star of Italy, the France and Germany Star, the 1939-45 Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp and the Defence of Britain Medal. A 35-year member of RCL Birtle Branch, Wellington also served as President and Zone Commander before he passed away in 1981. DOLMAGE, Ewart R. WWI Ewart was born in Souris, Manitoba in 1897 and enlisted in the 1st Depot Battalion in Brandon, Manitoba on May 3, 1918. He served as a Private with the 18th Reserve Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force in England until the end of the war. Ewart was demobilized on June 24, 1919 and he passed away in Winnipeg on February 24, 1935. DONALD (nee STEWART), Mary Elizabeth WWII Mary Elizabeth was born in Dand, Manitoba on November 23, 1922. She enlisted in Winnipeg in the Canadian Women’s Army Corps, took her basic training in Edmonton, Alberta and spent most of her time in recruiting. After the war ended, she was a clerk in Winnipeg and was discharged in June of 1946. Mary Elizabeth now lives in Innisfil, Ontario. DOLMAGE, John D. WWI John was born in Souris, Manitoba on August 17, 1890 and enlisted for service in Kingston on January 7, 1916. He was skilled with horses so he served as a gunner with the 46th (Queen’s) Battery, 11th and later the 9th Brigade Canadian Forces Artillery, 3rd Canadian Division. Although promoted to bombardier in November, he reverted to gunner at his own request in February 1917. John served in France and Belgium until the end of the war and received a medal from the Ville de Mons. He demobilized in Kingston on March 29, 1919 and passed away in Winnipeg on January 15, 1962.
