WWII Elwin was born in the Strathclair Municipality, Manitoba in 1920 and joined the Air Force Squadrons 423 and 404. He served in Canada, Ireland, Scotland, and England and flew over the Fjords of Norway. He has been a member of the Strathclair Branch #154 and the Brandon Branch #3 of The Royal Canadian Legion for sixty-three years. CURRIE, James WWI James was born to Angus and Barbara (Allen) Currie on February 18, 1895 at Rokeby, Saskatchewan, the third son in a family of eleven. Four of six brothers served their country, two in each World War. He grew up on a farm in the Goudney area of Pilot Mound, MB before enlisting on March 14, 1916 with the 27th City of Winnipeg Battalion. In his letters home to his brother Archie, he tells of being on a six-day pass from Shornecliffe to London and returning to find he’d been picked out for the first draft to France. He was a grenade dispatch rider and was reported missing at Vimy, France on May 3, 1917, the victim of an enemy sniper. CUNNINGHAM, Harold WWII Harold was born in Fort Frances, Ontario in 1926 and joined the Canadian Army, serving in Canada. Harold has been a member of the Atikokan Branch #145 of The Royal Canadian Legion for thirty-seven years.
