SPECIAL AREA DUTY Brian was born in Boissevain, Manitoba in 1959 and joined the Royal Canadian Navy, serving in Canada and the High Seas on the HMCS Kootenay, Restigouche, Gatineau, Winnipeg, Vancouver, Qu’Appelle, Regina and Saskatchewan. Brian passed away in 2007 and was a member of the Esquimalt Dockyard Branch #172, BC Royal Canadian Legion. COX, Robert W. PEACETIME Robert was born in St. Boniface, Manitoba in 1940 and joined the Queen’s Own Rifles, serving in Canada and Germany. Robert has been a member of the Atikokan Branch #145 of The Royal Canadian Legion for thirty-eight years. CRAWFORD (nee HUNT), Gwen WWII Gwen was born in Dropmore, Manitoba in 1925 and joined the Canadian Women’s Army Corps, serving in Canada. She passed away in 1997. No additional information is available. CRAWFORD, Gordon William WWII Gordon was born in Dauphin, Manitoba in 1922 and joined the Lanark and Renfrew Scottish Regiments, serving in Italy. In England during the war, Gordon was able to meet up with his brother Kenneth and it would be the last time they would see each other. Gordon died on September 5, 1944 at 22 and is commemorated at the Gradara War Cemetery in Italy. He was the son of William and Winnifred Crawford and brother to Flying Officer Kenneth Crawford and Florence Arndt of Roblin, Manitoba. Gordon, remembered for his quiet genuine personality, was loved by his fiancée, Edna Hodges, for fifty years. She never married and his picture remained on her bedside until she died.
