WWII Dave was born in Desford, Manitoba in 1919 and joined the Royal Canadian Army Cadets, serving in Canada as an airplane mechanic and working out of Halifax during WWII. He was a Private in the Royal Canadian Armoured Corps. Dave was a member of the Brandon Royal Canadian Legion when he passed away in Brandon, Manitoba in 1999. COCHRANE, Gordon W. WWII Gordon was born in Desford, Manitoba in 1921 and joined the army artillery in 1939 at age 18. He served in Canada, England, France, Belgium and Germany and was part of the Occupation Forces in Germany after the war. Gordon was a member of the Boissevain Royal Canadian Legion Branch #10 when he passed away in 1972. COOPER, George R. WWII George was born in Deloraine, Manitoba in 1924 and joined the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps, serving in Canada, Kiska Island, England, France and Belgium. He landed at Dieppe, returned to England and then went back to France on D-Day. He was wounded in the hip at Antwerp, Belgium. His hip joint was lost and his leg was fused, making one leg several inches shorter than the other. George passed away in 1984 and had been a Lifetime Member of the Boissevain Royal Canadian Legion Branch #10. COLBECK, Arthur Wayne WWII Arthur Wayne, son of Walter and Jeanie Colbeck, was born in Pope, Manitoba on September 9, 1922. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy on October 1, 1941 and served in Canada and on the High Seas, receiving the rank of SubLieutenant. He was reported missing on December 24, 1944 when the mine sweeper, HMCS Cayoquot, was torpedoed and sank about 5 miles out of Halifax. As no further official information was available, he was presumed to have died on that date. Arthur’s name is inscribed on the Naval Monument in Halifax.
