He joined the Saskatchewan Regiment and was killed in action on April 12, 1917. Roland is buried at La Chaudière Military Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France. GALLANT, Keith D.L. PEACETIME Keith was born in Dauphin, Manitoba in 1943. He joined the 3rd Royal Canadian Horse Regiment, serving in Canada and Europe. He passed away in 2005 and was a member of the Fort Garry Branch #90 of the Royal Canadian Legion for twenty-four years. GENAILLE, William A. He was killed in action in Belgrade, Yugoslavia on November 4, 1943 at age 30 and is commemorated at Belgrade War Cemetery, Yugoslavia. Hawken Island in Chicken Lake is named after him. HIRSEKORN, William Gustav WWII William was born in Chatfield, Manitoba on March 1, 1918 and joined the Royal Canadian Artillery as a gunner, serving in Winnipeg and Halifax.
