He was a member of Prince Edward Branch #81 of The Royal Canadian Legion. WATSON, Thomas WWI Thomas was born in England in 1879 and joined the 44th Canadian Army, serving in England and France. He was gassed at Ypres, taken prisoner and was a POW for an extended period. He received a letter of appreciation from the King and Queen of England upon his release. Thomas passed away in 1970. WELHAM, Ernest D.H. WWII Ernest was born in Selkirk, Manitoba in 1926 and joined the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry Corps, serving in Canada. He passed away in 2008 and had been a member of the Selkirk Branch #42 of The Royal Canadian Legion for twenty-five years. WATSON, Thomas Sawrey WWII Thomas was born in Bridge End Green, Cumberland, England, in 1904. He joined the Canadian Armoured Division to Fort Garry Horse, serving in Normandy on Invasion Day, Northwest Europe and Caen, France where he was wounded. He received the 1939-1945 Star, the France and Germany Star, the Defence Medal, and the War Medal 1939-1945. Thomas was Past-President of Hartney Legion Branch #26 for twenty years.
