He enlisted in 1943 in the Canadian Army at Trail, BC, serving with the Canadian Armoured Corps and the Regina Rifles Regiment. After training in Vernon, BC, he went overseas and later landed in Normandy on D-Day. Bob was injured on October 6, 1944, was repatriated to Canada in 1945 and worked with the Toronto Post Office where he met and married Cecelia Pitre of Lac du Bonnet, later settling in Winnipeg. He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, the 1939-45 War Medal, the 1939-45 Defence Medal, the 1939-45 Star and the France and Germany Star. In 1961, Bob died of health complications related to his war service. SCOBIE, Claude WWII Claude was born in Neepawa, Manitoba in 1922. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy and served on convoys in the North Atlantic and the English Channel on HMCS Jonquière and HMCS Chamblay. No additional information is available. SCRIBNER, Bessie F. WWII Bessie was born in Ninette, Manitoba on October 14, 1925. She volunteered and joined the Canadian Women’s Army Marching Corps as a Private in the early 1940s and was chosen to serve on the Selected Marching Troop of the Forces in the Victory Bond Drive across Canada. Bessie was stationed in Ottawa, ON and Red Deer, AB and did not serve overseas. She received two Volunteer General Service Medals for her service during wartime. Bessie was discharged in 1945 and passed away at sixty-two on March 21, 1988 at Selkirk, MB. She was a member of RCL Selkirk Branch #42. SCOTT, Douglas H. WWII Douglas was born in Boissevain, Manitoba in 1923 and joined the 100th Canadian Army Basic Training Centre and served in Canada. He passed away in 2003 and had been a member of the Boissevain Branch #10 of The Royal Canadian Legion for fifty-four years.
