He enlisted in Brandon, Manitoba with the Air Force and served at Comox and Vancouver, British Columbia in an air craft control and warning unit. He was discharged in 1959. No additional information is available. SADLER, Lyman W. WWII Lyman was born in Weyburn, Saskatchewan in 1918. He joined the Air Force and received the Burma Star after having served in the Far East. While serving there, he found a Japanese Flag with the inscription “Good Luck fighting son”. He lived in Swan River, Manitoba for a time and moved to Morris, MB in the early 60s where he worked as a liquor store manager before leaving Morris in 1968. Lyman was one of the “pushers” to start the Morris Stampede. After he retired, he returned to Morris where he was an active member of Branch #111 of The Royal Canadian Legion. Lyman passed away in 2000. SCHLEEN, Donald C. WWII & KOREA & PEACETIME Donald was born in Golden Lake, Ontario in 1927. He joined the Navy and served from July 1944 to October 1971on HMCS Iroquois, Dundurn, Crescent, Crusader, Antigonish, St Croix Chippawa and the Nonsuch in Canada, the High Seas as well as with the Korea Canadian Destroyer Division, Far East. Donald received the 1939-45 Star, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, the 1939-45 War Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal for Korea, the Korean Medal, the UN Service Medal, the Canadian Centennial Medal 1967 and the Canadian Forces Decoration and Clasp. Donald has been a member of the Britannia BC Yukon Branch #7 of The Royal Canadian Legion for twenty-one years. SANDERS, Reginald E. WWII Reginald was born in Manitou, Manitoba in 1919. He joined the Lord Strathcona Horse, Winnipeg Royal Canadian Army and served in England and Italy. His family hadn’t heard from him for many months, and then one day got a telegram from him with the message, “What’s for dinner on Friday?” That’s when they knew he was coming home and they went to Winnipeg to pick him up from the train. Until Reginald passed away in 1995, he had been a member of Branches Minnedosa, Pierson, Boissevain, Lethbridge and Sidney of The Royal Canadian Legion.
