153 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca MATHISON, Frank WWII Frank was born in Hamiota, Manitoba on November 8, 1919 and later joined the Air Force. Very little is known of Frank’s experience in the years fighting in Europe as he would not talk about it. He passed away in 2002. MAXWELL, Earl W. WWII Earl was born in Belmont, Manitoba in 1920 and joined the Artillery Army, serving in Canada and Newfoundland as an artillery trainer. Earl has been a member of the Boissevain Branch #10 of The Royal Canadian Legion for sixty-four years. McCOMB, M. Grant WWII Grant was born to Edward and Ella McComb in Emo, Ontario in 1921. He joined the Air Force as a Flying Officer, wireless air gunner, and served with the 419 Moose Squadron in England, Germany and Holland from 1942-1945. Known as “Buzz”, he completed thirty-two operations. Grant passed away in 2006 and was a Life Member of the General Lipsett Branch #99 of The Royal Canadian Legion. McBRIDE, Robert Thomas WWII Robert was born in Boissevain, Manitoba on July 26, 1917. In 1940, he enlisted with the Fort Garry Horse Regiment, Tank Division, serving in Europe from D-Day until the end of the war. He was discharged in January of 1946 and later worked in the hotel and insurance industries. Robert passed away in October, 1976 and is buried in the Napinka Cemetery.
