147 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca LOGEOT, Armand WWI Armand was born in Tertre, Belgium in 1894 and came to Canada in 1911 with his older brother, Charles. He joined the 14th Canadian Infantry Battalion, Royal Montreal Regiment and was killed in action in France in 1915. LONG, Louis R. WWII Louis joined the Royal Canadian Horse Artillery in October 1937 in Winnipeg. He served in Canada, the United Kingdom, Europe and was discharged in Winnipeg in October 1945. He received the 1939-45 Star, the Italy Star, the France and Germany Star, the Defence Medal and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. Louis passed away in 2005. LUMSDEN, George A. (Gordie) WWI George was born in Scotland and joined the D Company, 27th Battalion-Winnipeg. He transferred to Division Headquarters, serving at the Somme, Ypres, Vimy, Arras, Cambrai and Lens. He was wounded at Lens. No additional information is available. LOWE, Percy John WWI & WWII Percy was born in Oxfordshire, England in 1892 and joined the North Battleford, 188th Battalion in 1915, serving with the 5th Battalion Infantry and Military Mounted Police in England and France. Discharged in 1919, he farmed north of Mather until 1942 then moved to Cartwright where he worked at the local hospital. During WWII, Percy taught squadron and rifle drill and practice to the Cadets of the 344th Air Cadet Squadron. He was a Charter Member of RCL Cartwright-Mather Branch #86, serving as secretary-treasurer for over twenty-five years. He was awarded a Life Membership Meritorious Medal and Palm Leaf for his commitment to Veterans and the upkeep of the Cenotaph. Percy passed away in 1972.
