75 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca CHALMERS, William A. PEACETIME William was born in Toronto, Ontario, in 1948. He joined the Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment at age 16, and moved three years later on to the regular Army as a Royal Canadian Army Service Corps transport operator. His basic training was at the RCR Depot Wolseley Barracks, London, Ontario, and followed by trades in Camp Borden, Ontario. Bill served in various locations in Canada and retired in Winnipeg in 1996. A few months later, he joined the Army Reserves in Winnipeg and served with them until 2008. Bill received the Canada Decoration with three bars, QSJM and Special Service Medal with NATO Bar. Bill has served on the executive Ukrainian Canadian Veterans Branch #141 and Morris Branch #111 of The Royal Canadian Legion for ten years. CHAMBERS, Bertram Gordon WWI & WWII Bertram was born in Boissevain, Manitoba, in 1899. He joined the 18th Battalion in WWI and the Air Force in WWII serving in Canada and England. He remained in Canada during WWII and got to England in WWI before the war ended. He passed away in 1970. Bertram had been a member of the Boissevain Branch #10 of The Royal Canadian Legion for 8 years. CHAMBERS, John H. WWII John was born in Boissevain, Manitoba, in 1915. He joined the Royal Canadian Army Service Corp, 3rd Division serving in Canada, England, France, Holland and Germany. He had been a member of Boissevain Royal Canadian Legion Branch #10 for 55 years before he passed away in 2005. CHAMBERS, Edmund WWI Edmund was born in England in 1890 and immigrated to Boissevain before WWI, and then joined the Canadian Infantry - Alberta Regiment - 10th Battalion, and served in Canada and Belgium. Edmund was killed in action in Belgium in 1916.
