5 www.mbnwo.ca It is an honour and privilege to have the opportunity to work with the members of the Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario Command of The Royal Canadian Legion on the assembly of their “Military Service Recognition Book – Volume I.” This publication recognizes and honors many of the brave service people of Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario who have served this country so well during the past three major world conflicts and recent conflicts, such as Afghanistan. This book will go a long way in helping The Legion in their job as the “Keepers of Remembrance,” so that none of us forget the selfless contributions made by our Veterans. This book will be distributed free-of-charge through our Legion Branches, schools, libraries, and other public facilities throughout Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario, to help our future generations to better understand and appreciate the sacrifices made by our Veterans.
