He joined the Artillery Reserve Rescue Operations serving in Canada. He has been a member of the Fort Garry Branch #90 of The Royal Canadian Legion for 30 years. ASH, Wilfrid R. WWII Wilfrid was born in Rainy River District, Ontario, in 1920. He joined the 422nd Squadron serving in Ireland and Wales for four years with two of them overseas. Wilfrid is a Life Member of the Brandon Branch #3 of the Royal Canadian Legion for 56 years. ATKINSON, Kenneth E. WWII Kenneth was born in Hartney, Manitoba, in 1917. He joined the USA Air Force Photographic Unit, serving in Africa (November 1942-October 1943), Italy (October 1943 to January 1945), England (September 1942) and Algiers, Tunis, Naples and Florence, taking pictures that were used for planning the troops actions and drawing maps of areas. Ken and his wife had no children and lived in Golden, Colorado, USA.He passed away in 2004. ASHCROFT, Cromar J. WWII Cromar was born in Hamiota, Manitoba, in 1920. He joined the 14th Canadian Armoured Regiment (Calgary Tanks 1941-1954) and served in Sicily, Italy and Holland. He received the 1939-45 Star, the Italy Star, the France/Germany Star, the Defence Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and the War Medal 1939-1945. Cromar passed away in 1993 and had been a member of the Birtle Branch #55 of The Royal Canadian Legion for 51 years.
