He enlisted in Winnipeg in June 1942 with the RCNVR, serving in the Pacific and Atlantic Theatres. He was discharged in Winnipeg in October 1945 and received the 1939-1945 Star and the Provincial Award. Stanley has been a member of Russell Branch #159 of The Royal Canadian Legion for sixty-five years. YUILL, William Allan Douglas KOREA & SPECIAL AREA DUTY William was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, in 1932. He spent four years in Army Cadets before joining the Regular Army in October 1950. After a year of service in Korea in 195253, he attended the Military College in St. Jean, Quebec, and on graduation in 1956, he was commissioned into the Regiment of the Canadian Guards. Over the next thirty-two years, he progressed in rank and responsibility, serving in NATO (2 tours), Cyprus, a variety of locations in Canada, and finally as a Brigadier General in Damascus, Syria, where he was the Deputy Force Commander of the UN Force in the Golan Heights separating the Israelis and the Syrians. After retirement, he was appointed to a six-year term as Colonel Commandant of the Military Police Branch of the CF from 1994-2000, giving him credit for more than forty-four years of uniformed service. Willam has been a member of Grandview Branch #14 of The Royal Canadian Legion for eleven years. ZROBACK, William R. SPECIAL AREA DUTY & PEACETIME William was born in Kenora, Ontario, in 1939. He joined the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals with the rank of Signalman in 1956. After basic and trades training at Vimy Barracks in Kingston, ON, he was shipped off to Egypt in 1957. William was a member of 56 Canadian Signal Squadron and served with the United Nations Emergency Force as a Radio Operator at detachments in Rafah and El Quasaima in the Sinai Desert. After a one-year posting, he returned to Canada and served in various units before being posted to Germany in 1960. William took his release in 1968 and began a career as a Police Officer, remaining involved with the military as a member of the Reserve Force, as well as receiving his commission as a Lieutenant (Navy) in the Cadet Instructor Cadre. He was awarded the Canadian Forces Decoration with two Bars. William has been a member of Kenora Branch #12 of The Royal Canadian Legion for thirty-nine years. ZROBACK, David N. SPECIAL AREA DUTY David was born in Kenora, Ontario, in 1968. He enrolled in the Military Engineers as a Sapper and took his basic training and trades training at Canadian Forces Base in Chilliwack, BC. He was a member of 2 Troop, Bridging, 1 Combat Engineer Regiment, 1 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group stationed at CFB Chilliwack. David was injured in a training accident and medically released from the Canadian Forces.
