In World War One, he joined the 45th Battalion to 1st CMRs and transferred to Casualty Clearing Assembling Centre, St. Leonard’s Shorncliffs Military and Moore Barracks Hospital. He fought at the Battle of Hooge, Hill 60. He also served in World War Two with the 12th Dragoons. Harry passed away in 1955. STANSALL, John James WWII John was born in Hartney, Manitoba, in 1923. He joined the 115th Squadron Air Crew serving in the British Isles and Europe. He was shot down on Monday, September 28, 1942, in a Wellington Bomber eight kilometers southwest of URK after daylight bombing attack on Lingen. John was sent to German POW Camp Stalag VIII B for two years and eight months. He passed away in 1993, and was a member of Hartney Branch #26 of The Royal Canadian Legion. STEPHENSON, Hugh M. WWII Hugh was born in Minnedosa, Manitoba, in 1920. He served with the Met section of the Air Force at Port Hardy, trained at Petawawa, and was stationed at Rivers, Manitoba. Hugh passed away in 2009, and had been a member of Minnedosa Branch of The Royal Canadian Legion. STANSALL, William B. WWII William was born in Mansfield, Nottingham, England, in 1908. He joined the Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders, taking part in the Dieppe Raid, where he was wounded. He was hospitalized at Stalag VIII B. William passed away in 1982.
