He joined the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force serving in Canada, England and France. He passed away in 1971. POTTINGER, Roy WWII Roy was born in Pebble Beach, Manitoba, in 1913. He joined the Winnipeg Grenadiers and left Winnipeg on October 26, 1941, for Hong Kong via Bermuda. He was captured in the Battle of Hong Kong on Christmas Day in 1941, and then spent the rest of the war in a Japanese Prison Camp. Roy passed away in 1997. PROSAVICH, Peter R. WWII Peter was born in Mears, Manitoba, in 1921. He enlisted in May 1940 with the 2nd L.A.A. 1st Division serving in Canada, England, Italy and Sicily. He was discharged in October 1945, and passed away in 2002. He had been a member of Russell Branch #159 of The Royal Canadian Legion for 43 years. PRITCHETT, Allan S. WWII Allan was born in Gladstone, Manitoba, on January 20, 1922. He enlisted on January 15, 1940, with the PPCLI as a private in Company “C.” He completed his basic training at Fort Osborne Barracks in Winnipeg and left Canada for Halifax, landing in Northern Scotland and was billeted at Godstone, England, with Hilda and Charlie Rapson, serving for five years. In 1943, he left England for Italy with Transport Services carrying supplies to the front. He was engaged in the Italian battles of Moro River Crossing and Ortona. From there, Allan went to Holland, Belgium, France and Germany for clean up operations. He returned to civilian life upon demobilization on August 31, 1945. He was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, the King George Medal, the 1939-45 Star, the Italy Star, the France/Germany Star, the Defence Medal, and the Dutch Appreciation Medal. Allan passed away at Portage La Prairie on September 1, 1987, and had been a member of Branch #65 of The Royal Canadian Legion for 39 years.
