He joined the Royal Canadian Engineers and served in Canada, England and France. No additional information is available. OLBRECHT, Stefan WWII Stefan was born on November 26, 1926, in Poland and was deported into the Soviet Union to northern Urals on February 10, 1940, where his father, grandmother, brother and sister had died. He joined the Polish Army of General Anders and traveled through Persia, Iraq, Jordan to Gedera and Palestine. At age 17, he volunteered with the Air Force but was assigned to the Polish II Corps of the British 8th Army from Monte Cassino to Bologna. After the war, Stefan arrived in Canada in June 1947 in Winnipeg and joined the Polish Combatant Association. In 1954, he joined The Royal Canadian Legion and held various positions: President of the Polish Branch #34 A. Mynarski VC in 1990-91, Vice-President in 1992-1995, and President from 1997-2010. He is married and has two children. He received the 1939-1945 Star, the Italy Star, the War Medal 1939-1945, the Queen’s Golden Jubilee, and the following Polish medals: Srebrny Zaslugi, Kryz Monte Cassino, Krzyz Czynu Bojowego, K. Zeslancow Sybiru Medals. OLIVER, Reginald M. WWI Reginald was born in England and joined the 79th Overseas Battalion as a bass drummer serving in Canada and England. He passed away in 1964, and had been a member of Miniota Branch #66 of The Royal Canadian Legion for 38 years. OLENICK, Nicholas N. WWII Nicholas was born in Reston, Manitoba, on January 6, 1923. He enlisted in Winnipeg with Unit 17 Field Battery RCA and the 4th Canadian Armoured Division in January 1942, serving in Canada, England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He was discharged on February 6, 1946, and was awarded the Commander-in-Chief 21st Army Group Certificate by Field Marshall Montgomery. Nicholas received the 1939-Star, the France/Germany Star, the Defence Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, and the war Medal 1939-1945. He has been a member of Henderson Branch #215 of The Royal Canadian Legion for 55 years.
