He joined the Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infantry in 1961, serving four years in Germany and did peacekeeping duty in Cyprus in 1971-72. He received an honourable discharge in 1975. Don received the UN Peacekeeping and NATO Medals. He has been a member of Selkirk Branch #42 of The Royal Canadian Legion for ten years. McDONALD, Murdock WWI Murdock was born in St. Antigonish, Nova Scotia, in 1885. He joined the 8th Battalion and was killed in action in France in 1918. McFADDEN, Jesse H. WWI Jesse was born in Margaret, Manitoba, in 1891. He joined the 10th Field Ambulance and was killed in action in France in 1916. McDONNELL, Arnold E. WWII & KOREA Arnold was born in St. Eustache, Manitoba, in 1923. He enlisted in March 1941 in the Royal Canadian Army Service Corp at Fort Osborne, Winnipeg, and trained in Portage La Prairie and had advance training in Red Deer. He served in England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. While serving in Europe, he was a pilot car driver for Lt. General Simmonds, and while in England, he married Grace Grant in 1943. He was then posted to Korea in 1954, then to Winnipeg and Camp Shilo. Arnold retired in August 1968, and was honourably released with the rank of Corporal. He received the 1939-1945 Star, the France/Germany Star, the Defence Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, the War Medal 1939-1945, the United Nations Service Medal, the Canadian Forces Decoration and Clasp, and the Korean Voluntary Service Medal. He currently resides in Brandon, Manitoba, and has been a member of Brandon Branch #3 of The Royal Canadian Legion for 31 years.
