PEACETIME Harvey was born in Rorketon in 1940, and joined the Motor Pool Service Unit, serving in Canada. He has been a member of Lawrence Branch #87 of The Royal Canadian Legion for 49 years. LEAKE, Harry WWII Harry was born in Birmingham, England, in 1908. He joined the Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders of Canada, serving in Canada, the United Kingdom and Continental Europe. He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, the Defence Medal, the 1939-1945 Star and the France/Germany Star. Harry passed away in 1980. LEBEDOVICH, Sam WWII Sam was born in Roblin, Manitoba, in 1921. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force Squadron 264 and was posted to Lethbridge, Alberta, as a wireless electrical mechanic. Shortly after his arrival in Lethbridge, the allies flew 81 Lancaster Bombers to store there. His job was to get them ready for battle because Russia was getting restless and he had to be ready for any threat to the western allies. Sam has been a member of Roblin Branch #24 of The Royal Canadian Legion for over 50 years. LEAMING, Vernon “Raymond” WWII Vernon was born in Wattsview, Manitoba, in 1917, and joined the Medical Corps. He passed away in 1981. No additional information is available.
