He joined the Navy and served in Canada, England and on the High Seas aboard HMCS Kooetnay, CFB Comox and HMCS Saskatchewan. David is a member of The Royal Canadian Legion. HOLM, Jeannette A. WWII Jeannette was born in Brighton, Sussex, England, in 1925. She joined the RAF WAAF and served in England. She has been a member of Arborg Branch #161 of The Royal Canadian Legion for 54 years. HONEY, Edward Lloyd WWII Edward was born in Russell, Manitoba, in 1922. He joined the Canadian Army and achieved the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. He married Virginia Caruso in 1943, and was discharged as an essential farm worker due to his father’s health. Following his father’s death in 1945, Edward took employment as manager of the Portage La Prairie Mental Hospital Farm. In 1951, he took position with the Equity Cooperative of Wisconsin, USA, buying and selling cattle. He had three daughters and two sons. Edward passed away in 2001 in the USA. HONEY, Cynthia Mary Elva WWII Cynthia was born in Binscarth, Manitoba, in 1911. She joined the Army Medical Corps as a nursing sister serving in England, Sicily and Italy. She was slightly injured in an air raid on Sicily. She went back to England and received the Royal Red Cross Medal from King George VI as mentioned in the King’s Canadian New Year’s Honours list of 1945. When the war was over, she continued her studies at McGill and Massachusetts Universities. Cynthia married Gaylord Brink in 1952. She died of cancer in Montreal in 1987.
