119 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca HENDERSEN, Arthur Alexander WWII Arthur was born on April 29, 1917, the third of six boys, and was raised on a farm just south of Franklin, MB. He enlisted in Winnipeg on March 31, 1941, and served as a private in the Army Service Corps in England, Italy and Western Europe. He was discharged on January 21, 1946, and then worked on a crew dismantling the Air Training Centre at the airport in Souris. While there, he joined the Souris Branch of The Royal Canadian Legion. Art met and married Dorothy Ada Mayo of Souris and raised three children in Brandon. He passed away in April of 1982 at the age of 65. HENDERSON, Andrew D. WWII Andrew was born in Rockwood, Manitoba, on October 22, 1917. He joined the 401 Squadron 126 Airfield of the Air Force in February 1941, serving in England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He first trained in Brandon, MB, then in Yorkton, SK, and served as an Air Frame carpenter on propellers and leading edges of aircraft wings. Andrew was posted overseas first in England in the fall of 1943 then to Dunstolds Air Field and served with the 410 Squadron on the 126 Air Field. His squadron was to go to the Pacific but the war ended before being posted. He was discharged in August 1945 and met and married his wife in England in March 1944 and they were married for 63 years. Andrew passed away on August 24, 2007, and was a member of Stonewall Branch #52 and the Brant Argyle Branch #222 of The Royal Canadian Legion for 62 years. HOLM, Albert V. WWII Albert was born in Cypress River, Manitoba, in 1918. He joined the H.Q. Squadron (Fort Garry Horse) and 2nd Canadian Armoured Brigade and served in Canada and England. He passed away in 1997 and had been a member of the Arborg Branch #161 and Brandon Branch #3 of The Royal Canadian Legion for 42 years. HINTZ, Rueben WWII Rueben was born in Maple Creek, SK, in 1921. He joined the PPCLI in 1942, taking his basic training in Shilo, Manitoba, and then transferred to Debert, Nova Scotia, serving in Canada. Rueben passed away in 1988 and had been a member of Souris Branch #60 of The Royal Canadian Legion for 35 years.
