He enlisted in May 1944 with the RCHA serving in Canada, the UK and Europe. He was discharged in June 1947 and passed away in 1999. Edwin was a member of Russell Branch #159 of The Royal Canadian Legion. FRANSOO, Gerard Adolphe WWII Gerard was born in 1920 and enlisted on January 8, 1942, in Portage La Prairie and transferred to the Minto Armouries on February 12, 1942, serving with the Winnipeg Grenadiers in Terrace, BC, being attested for active services as Corporal until April 30. On May 15, 1942, he was with the Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders of Canada and went overseas on September 16, 1942, as an Infantry Signaler. He had duty in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. Gerard was discharged on January 18, 1946, and joined the Norwood Legion Branch #43 for six years and the Belgian Veteran’s Branch #107 for 47 years. He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp 211-44, 2R service 6-644, AWD 1939-1945 Star, the France/Germany Star, the Defence Medal #58 and the Overlord Liberty at Normandy. Gerard passed away in 2007. FRASER, Donald WWI Donald joined the 43rd Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders and served in France. He passed away in 1918. FRASER, Alexander WWI Alexander was born in Peterhead, Scotland, in 1898 and joined the 16th Canadian Scottish Regiment, serving in France. He returned from overseas to the Carman area, where he purchased the S.E. 1/45-8-5 and farmed for the next 60 years. Alexander passed away in 1980 and had been a member of Carman Branch #18 of The Royal Canadian Legion for 54 years.
