He enlisted in the Canadian Army in Winnipeg in October 1941. After his basic instruction, he was posted to Halifax for additional training with the 21st Regiment of the 17th Infantry and was later transferred to Newfoundland for supplementary preparation before embarkation leave and further postings. When World War Two came to an end on May 8, 1945, Maurice was discharged from service in January 1946 and was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, the 1939-45 War Medal, and the 1939-1945 Defence Medal. He passed away in 1998. DUPONT, Omer WWI Omer was born in St. Autins, Quebec, on March 30, 1865. He enlisted in the Canadian Army on September 16, 1915, at 50 years old, necessitating that he lied on his enlistment documents where his birth date is listed as March 30, 1871. Omer was with the Canadian Engineers and was assigned to the Forestry Corps. His war years, 1915-1918, were spent only in England. Omer had two sons, Lawrence and Wilbrod, and both followed him to England in defence of King and Country. He was discharged in 1918 with the rank of Private and entitled to the British War Medal. He returned to Canada and settled in St. Georges, MB, where relatives still remain. DUPONT, Wilbrod WWI Wilbrod was born in Fort Alexander, Manitoba, on January 19, 1897. He joined the Canadian Expeditionary Force on September 17, 1915, one day after his father and was sent to the front on December 26, 1915, with the Royal Canadian Engineers and was slightly wounded on November 5, 1916, in France. Wilbrod rejoined his unit on February 10, 1917, and remained in the field until August 13, 1918, returning home on the HMTS Empress of Britain on April 26, 1919. He was discharged upon demobilization on May 7, 1919, at which time he returned to the Pine Falls area. He received the 1914-1915 Star, the British War and Victory Medal and the War Services Badge Class “A” #162936. DUPONT, Paul A. WWII Paul was born in St. Georges, Manitoba, in 1925. He joined the Canadian Armed Forces in December 1944, enlisting in the Canadian Infantry Corps. After basic training and during his one-and-half years of service, Paul was stationed in various Army bases, St. Jerome, Farnam, Mount Bruno, Bariefield, Shilo, Fort Osborne, and Dundurn. Paul was discharged in Winnipeg in May of 1946.
