LEST WE FORGET 335 WRIGHT, Alexander WWII Alexander was born in Plato, Saskatchewan on July 13, 1920. He enlisted in the Air Force on May 22, 1940 in Moose Jaw, at the age of nineteen. He achieved the rank of Sergeant in 423 Squadron, serving as an Air Frame Mechanic “A”. He was discharged in Regina on September 10, 1945 after having served in Ireland, Scotland and England. Alexander passed away on March 31, 2003. WRISTEN, Roy C. WWII Roy was born in Montreal, Quebec but came to Viscount, Saskatchewan as an infant with his widowed mother. They returned to Montreal for ten years then came back to Viscount, where his mother remarried and they lived on a farm. Roy was very mechanically inclined. He joined the Army on February 13, 1943 and served as a Corporal with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps in Canada and England. He was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. Roy raised ten children with his wife, Elizabeth Russell. Roy’s two sons, Bill and Gordon, enlisted in peacetime. After his discharge on April 5, 1946, they continued to farm until 1963 when Roy was forced to sell because of health problems and they moved into Viscount. Roy was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Viscount Branch 271 and he passed away on April 4, 1983. WRIGHT (CUTTS), Mavis WWII Mavis was born in Sheffield, England on December 7, 1923. She joined the Air Force on April 13, 1943 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. She served in Canada with the rank of LAW. She was married to Alexander Wright and lived in Moose Jaw having three children together. Mavis passed away on September 26, 2001.
