LEST WE FORGET 329 WEIR, Harold James WWII Harold was born in Melfort, Saskatchewan in 1915. He enlisted in the Air Force on June 13, 1941 and served during World War Two. He was discharged on October 12, 1945 and received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. Harold is a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 30 in Melfort. Harold passed away in 1976. WATSON, Guy WWI Guy Watson was born on July 6, 1883, in Kendal, England. His parents were Francis William and Elizabeth (Lowe) Watson. William, a lawyer, died of cancer when Guy was 8 years old. At age 18, Guy emigrated to Canada. He worked at a bank in Hanley before moving to Outlook. In Outlook, he was a warden in St. Mark’s Anglican Church for several years. He married Blanch Lillian Benson in 1910. They lived on Pangman Street. A daughter, Dorothy Elizabeth, was born June 11, 1914. He was working as an accountant in the Hall Bank in Outlook when he enlisted with the 128th Overseas Battalion on November 29, 1915. Guy Watson was employed by Col. Pawlett, commander of the 128th Battalion, to recruit soldiers in the Outlook district; his name appears as a witness on the enlistment papers of many recruits. Like most of the soldiers of the 128th, he departed from Halifax on August 15, 1916. He served in France as pay sergeant of the 4th Canadian Railway Troop. He received his discharge papers on February 18, 1919. He returned to his wife and daughter in Outlook. Their son, Charles Francis Watson, was born on December 19, 1920, the year the family decided to move to Indian Head, Saskatchewan. In Indian Head, Guy established a real estate and insurance business. He was involved in his community. Guy Watson passed away on April 27, 1951. He is buried in the Indian Head Cemetery. His wife, Blanche, passed away on December 23, 1998, at the age of 101.
