LEST WE FORGET 191 KAWA, Halina WWII Halina was born in Poland on May 11, 1906. She enlisted in 1942 as a Corporal and was discharged in 1948. She married John Kawa in 1925 and had a family of three. She received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, 1939-1945 War Medal, and the 1939-1945 Star. Halina passed away in May 1992 and had been a member of the Langenburg Branch 250 of The Royal Canadian Legion for eighteen years. KELLINGTON, Clifford William “Cliff” WWII Cliff was born to Thomas and Mabel (Hewlitt) Kellington on April 14, 1916 in Grayburn, Saskatchewan. He enlisted as Aircraftman in the Royal Canadian Air Force on June 16, 1942 in Regina, SK, completing initial training in Moose Jaw, SK and trades training in Brandon, MB and St. Thomas, ON. He served on airbases in Lethbridge, AB; Assiniboia and Swift Current, SK; and was posted to Calgary, AB in December 1945. He was released in Calgary on January 25, 1946. Cliff passed away in Regina on January 15, 2000 and is buried in the Regina Memorial Gardens Cemetery. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Regina Branch 1 and is a recipient of the Royal Canadian Legion Fifty-Year Medal. KEENAN, Kenneth Louis WWI Kenneth was born on March 2, 1895 (other records indicate March 1, 1896) in Moosomin, Saskatchewan. He was the seventh child born to Elizabeth Catherine (Burns) and James Simon Keenan. His parents were farming in the Coverdale area near Keenan’s Crossing west of Moosomin along the Pipestone River around 1888. His address was St. Boswells, Saskatchewan when he enlisted in Regina on June 22, 1918 with the 1st Sask Depot. He took training in Calgary with the Lord Strathcona Horse and was hospitalized in the Military Hospital in Calgary on February 3, 1919 with influenza. He was discharged in Calgary on March 3, 1919 and never went overseas. Kenneth married Fannie Maud King about 1925. Kenneth and Fannie lived in the St. Boswell, Saskatchewan area and had two children, William Bernard (Bill) and Bernice. Kenneth’s wife died in 1938. He passed away on August 3, 1979, in Calgary and he is buried in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Hodgeville, Saskatchewan.
