LEST WE FORGET 99 DAVIES, William Kenny WWII William was born in Indian Head, Saskatchewan, in 1924. He joined the Regina Rifles and served a short time in the military training as part of the infantry serving in Canada. He passed away in 1991. DEGRYSE, Ernest WWII Ernest was born in Langenburg, Saskatchewan, on September 21, 1917. He joined the 15th Field Regiment, 4th Division (Gunner) on June 19, 1941 and served in Canada, the United Kingdom and France. Ernest drowned while crossing the Seine River in action on August 28, 1944 and is buried at Bretteville-sur-Laize, France. He has a geo memorial in Northern Saskatchewan called Degryse Lake. He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, War Medal 1939-1945, Defence Medal and the France and Germany Star. DAVIS, Samuel Norman WWII Samuel was born in Liverpool, England, in 1915 and came to Canada with his parents settling in Elkhorn, Manitoba. He married Irene Kingdon and raised three children: Lyle, Norma and Jim. In September 1939, he enlisted with the Army Corps in Regina and left for England in 1940. He returned home in June 1945 and worked for the wheat pool elevators in Atwater and then Welwyn, Saskatchewan. In 1970, due to ill health, he retired to Regina and became a member of the Corps of Commissionaires, where he worked until his sudden passing in 1973. He was a member of the Welwyn Branch 112 of The Royal Canadian Legion.
