LEST WE FORGET 91 BELLIVEAU, Frank Gordon WWII Frank was born on December 6, 1922, to James and Jane Belliveau in Rutland, Saskatchewan. At the age of seventeen, he joined the Canadian Forces. In 1942, he went overseas with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles and saw battle at Normandy Beach. During the battle, he was hit in the jaw and forehead with shrapnel. He spent some time in various hospitals until he was discharged in August 1946. He returned home and married Gladys Lane on November 18, 1946 and together they raised five children, Gladys, Gordon, Sharon, Alan and Marlene. Frank passed away on July 13, 1985. BELLIVEAU, Sidney Alfred WWII Sidney was born on February 21, 1921, to James and Jane Belliveau in Rutland, Saskatchewan and attended school there. In 1941, he enlisted and went overseas with the 1st Battalion Irish Fusiliers of the Canadian Forces and fought at the battle in France. He returned to Canada in 1946. From 1946 to 1957, he worked at various jobs. His last job was with Belmont Construction in Vancouver working on the Second Narrows Bridge when he lost his life when the tugboat he was on overturned. He passed away on April 15, 1957. BELLIVEAU, James WWI James was born on May 5, 1880, in Gaspe Bay, Quebec. He moved to the west in 1906 to the Rutland, Saskatchewan district. In 1914, he went overseas with the 46th Battalion of the Canadian Forces and saw battle at the famous Vimy Ridge. During the war, he was gassed with chlorine gas. While overseas, he married Jane Elizabeth Vidler on December 9, 1917. They had six children, Kathleen, William, Sidney, Frank, Robert, and Margaruite. In 1931, his wife passed away. James moved to Unity, Saskatchewan in 1956. James passed away on May 27, 1974 and was laid to rest in the Rutland Cemetery.
