LEST WE FORGET 361 WILLARD, John D. “Jack” WWII John D.Willard, known as Jack, was born on February 8, 1919. His birth certificate only lists the place of birth as Saskatchewan; however, the 1921 Census indicates that the family was living in Loreburn. His parents were Daniel Peter and Eva Lavina (Reynolds) Willard. Including Jack, there were nine children in the Willard family. Jack grew up in the Macrorie area. He enlisted in the RCAF in World War II and served as an aircraft mechanic, mainly in Rockcliffe, Ontario. After the war, he returned to Outlook where he worked in the Outlook Flour Mill until 1949 when he and his family moved to Saskatoon. Jack worked for the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool (starting wage: 95 cents per hour) until his retirement in 1981. Jack and Violet Renas were married on February 13, 1943 in Outlook. They had five children: Herb, Doug, Bruce, Al and Elaine. Jack was active in the Royal Canadian Legion and coached a softball team in the Mayfair area of Saskatoon. Jack and Violet celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1993. Jack Willard passed away at the University Hospital in Saskatoon on July 19, 1996, at the age of 77. He is buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Saskatoon. WILLBERG, George Emil WWII & KOREA George was born in 1923 in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan. He enlisted with the Army during the Second World War and served in England, Italy and Europe. He joined the PPCLI during the Korean War and was wounded in battle. He was awarded the President’s Citation for Meritorious Service. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion 52 in Kamloops, BC and was Sergeant-at-Arms at the time of his death. He also served as Zone Sergeant-at-Arms for a number of years. George passed away in 1976. WILLBERG, Arthur WWII Arthur was born on April 14, 1926, in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan. He joined the Army on October 20, 1943 and served in Canada, the United Kingdom and Continental Europe. He was wounded in action in 1944 and discharged from the Army on June 6, 1946. He married Debra Hart and they raised six children in Maple Creek. Arthur passed away on April 12, 2001.
