LEST WE FORGET 321 SLACK, Clarence Norman WWII Norman was born in Springside, Saskatchewan, on January 13, 1921. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1940, serving in Canada and England. For his service he received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, the Defence Medal Ribbon, and a personally signed citation from King George VI and Queen Elizabeth for service above and beyond the call of duty. Norman was discharged in 1945 and came to Alameda, Saskatchewan, to work for his uncle’s store, which he eventually took over. He married Hazel Leadley and they had four children. Norman was a member of the Alameda Legion Branch 267 and was an active member in The Royal Canadian Legion and the community. He passed away in January 1978. SLOWSKI, Lawrence “Lorne” Lorne was born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan on January 24, 1946. He enlisted in the Navy and served as a seaman for three years in Canada on the Cornwallis, Stadacona, Fort Erie, and Nipigon. SLADE, Connell Walter WWII Connell joined the Army and passed away in 1965. He was a member of the Smeaton Branch of The Royal Canadian Legion.
