LEST WE FORGET 297 ROBINSON, Jesse WWI &WWII Jesse was born in 1884 in Berkshire, England, and immigrated to Canada in 1910, settling in Birch Hills, SK. His wife, Rose, and daughter, Queenie, followed in 1913. His sons, Stan and Reg, were born in Birch Hills. Jesse enlisted in the Army in 1915, and came back in 1918 to run the Fenton Ferry for the summer. He moved back to Birch Hills to work and raise his family. He re-enlisted in World War II and became a Veteran Guard. Rose passed away in 1953, and in 1963, Jesse moved to live in the Veterans Home in Saskatoon, where he passed away in 1979. Jesse and Rose are buried in the Birch Hills Cemetery. ROTH, Jacob WWII Jacob was born in section 36 township 21 range west in Saskatchewan on February 2, 1920. He joined the Army on July 31, 1941, serving in Canada, the United Kingdom and the North Pacific. He was discharged on April 5, 1946 and came home with an Irish war bride. He had been a member of the Lumsden Branch of The Royal Canadian Legion for 50 years before he passed away on January 1, 2001. ROMANOVICH, William WWI William was born in Poland and immigrated to Canada with some friends and settles in the Tuffnell area. He enlisted in the Army on April 5, 1916. He served with the 188th Battalion in England, Canada, and France until his discharge on January 10, 1919 with the rank of Sapper. He received the following medals: British Service Medal and the Victory Medal France. He married Mary and they raised a family of five sons and five daughters. William passed away on July 7, 1970.
