LEST WE FORGET 295 ROBERTSON, Wilfred Harold WWI &WWII Wilfred was born in Owen Sound, Ontario, on August 25, 1898. He joined the RCASC RCA at age 18 and inWorldWar II, he joined the 76th Field Battery RCA, 17th Canadian Field Regiment on August 6, 1940 at Indian Head, Saskatchewan, serving in Canada, England and Italy. On November 9, 1941, he went overseas to the United Kingdom as part of the 5th Canadian Armoured Division and was confirmed as Sergeant on February 12, 1942. In November 1943, he landed in Italy and on February 8, 1944, he returned to the United Kingdom on a hospital boat with severe back problems and was hospitalized there and returned to Canada on August 26, 1945. He was awarded the Italy Star and Defence Medal on December 12, 1945 and received his discharge on January 31, 1946. Harold was a violinist and played in an orchestra in England and on his return to civilian life, he farmed and was a registered seed grower in Balcarres, Saskatchewan. He was killed in Balcarres on April 4, 1955. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Balcarres Branch from 1946 to 1955. ROBINSON, Hazel Ferry WWII Hazel was born in Saskatchewan in 1925. She joined the Canadian Women’s Army Corps and served in Canada. She passed away in 2000 and was a member of the Eston Branch 155 of The Royal Canadian Legion. ROBINSON, Garland Glenn WWI &WWII Garland was born in Meeker County, Minnesota, USA, in 1893. He joined the 3rd Division Machine Battalion with the Veteran’s Guard of Canada, serving in Canada and Europe. He had been a member of the Eston Branch 155 of The Royal Canadian Legion for thirty years before he passed away in 1971.
