LEST WE FORGET 289 RICHARDS, Kathleen WWII Kathleen was born in 1914 in the Armley District and went to Manlius School. She joined the Air Force as a cook in 1941, and on December 1, 1944, she married Owen Hanna, Orville’s twin. She was stationed in Saskatoon with the #43FTS until she received her discharge in May 1945. She went back home to live with Owen and they raised three daughters: Eleanor, Sharon and Ruth. They sold the farm in 1972 but lived on the yard site until 1977 when they moved to Tisdale. Owen passed away in 1981 and Kay passed away on August 6, 2008. RIDSDALE, Frederic WWII Frederic joined the Canadian Army and was a Quarter Master Sergeant. He passed away in 1979. RICHMOND, W. G. “Bud” WWII Bud was born to William and Georgia at Leacross, Saskatchewan, on November 24, 1912. He taught school for a while, and was a bush pilot in Saskatchewan, the Territories and the USA. In 1939, he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force and saw service in Canada, England, India and Burma. After twenty years in the military service, he retired with the rank of Squadron Leader. In 1961, his life ended in a tragic air crash while fighting forest fires on the west coast. He left behind a wife, Georgia, and their two children: Lynn and Lance.
