LEST WE FORGET 251 MECKLER, Peter WWII Peter was born in Estevan, Saskatchewan, on August 13, 1925. He enlisted with the Regina Rifles on May 5, 1944 and served in Canada, the United Kingdom, and Continental Europe. He was discharged on May 31, 1946. Peter passed away on July 13, 1995 and had been a member of the Merritt Branch 96 of The Royal Canadian Legion for 23 years. MEEKS, Wallace WWI Wallace enlisted with the Army and served overseas during World War I. He married Nellie, an English war bride, in 1919 and they later returned to Arborfield. They had one daughter and two adoptive children. MEEKS, John WWI &WWII John served overseas during World War I. He married Nellie, an English war bride, in late 1919 and came to the area. He enlisted with the Army on January 12, 1943. He served with the Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders as a Sniper in Canada, England, France, Belgium, and Holland where he was wounded on October 1, 1944. He received his discharge in March 1945.
