LEST WE FORGET 243 McINNES, Wendell WWII Wendell moved to the Trails End District in 1932 to take a homestead and married Flossie Langford in 1941. He joined the Army in 1942 and was involved with the Normandy landing as a 14th Army Brigade Driver of No. 13 tank and survived the destruction of three tanks, all No. 13. He came home in 1946 to homestead and raised four children. He farmed until 1955 and also worked for Midwest Diamond Drill Company. He passed away on May 10, 1967. McINTYRE, Westley Lawrence “Wes” WWII Wes was born on January 21, 1919, to Owen and Greta, and was raised at Armley. He joined the Royal Canadian Dragoons Tank Corps and went overseas for five years in Sicily, Italy and Holland. He married Ivy Turner on November 21, 1945 before returning home. He farmed the Veterans’ Land and mined at Uranium City. They raised three children. Wes passed away on December 12, 1976. McINTYRE, James A. WWI Jim was born at Gladstone, Manitoba, on February 19, 1896, to John and Mary, and moved with his family to the Ridgedale District, where they farmed. He enlisted and was at Vimy Ridge and returned to Ridgedale after the war and married Alma Magee on July 5, 1926 and raised a daughter, Beverley. Jim was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion and passed away in June 1979.
